Slightly Jet Lagged : The Travel Sketchbooks of Mike Lowery

Created by mike lowery

Slightly Jet Lagged: The Travel Sketchbooks of Mike Lowery (by Mike Lowery, featuring Mike Lowery) is a super-high-quality, full-color book with tons of drawings, comics, and notes from all over the world. It's 120 pages and hardbound. I mentioned in the video that I broke my tooth in the jungle in Cambodia. This is NOT a joke. Want to hear the whole story? BUY THE BOOK. (sorry I can't give away ALL the good stuff for free!) It's full of comics and journal drawings from tons of places: All over the US, Norway, China, Japan, Germany (where my wife is from), Portugal, Iceland, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Russia...you get the picture!

Take a peek at the COVER and Iceland/Japan prints!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Aug 07, 2018 at 03:03:11 PM

Hey folks!  Just FOUR more days until the campaign is over.  First off, THANK YOU once again for backing this book!  We needed 8k to make it happen and it looks like we are going to break the 20k mark (fingers crossed)!

We need still need your help!  Please forward this project to anyone who might like a collection of drawings and comics from all over the world!  The more copies of the book sell, the more money I'm able to put into the production of the book!

Speaking of which, did you see the cover yet?

And what about the screen prints from Japan and Iceland?  Both are SUPER limited and are printed by hand on fancy French Paper Company paper.

It's not too late to grab both!  Just update your pledge to include them.  If you've got any questions about it at all, just shoot me a message.

Thanks again for all of your support.  I can't wait to send you the books as soon as possible.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR OWN TRAVEL SKETCHBOOK!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 01, 2018 at 01:11:56 PM

Hey folks!  We did it! We are fully FUNDED. Thank you so much for being an early supporter of Slightly Jet Lagged!

I wanted to let you know that we’ve launched a new incentive!   It’s a little guidebook called “How To Keep a Travel Sketchbook”.  I’ve had so many of you all reach out with questions about keeping a travel sketchbook of your own, it seemed like an easy add-on for this book.  As a THANK YOU for the first 20 backers who purchased “slightly Jet lagged”, you’ll be getting this book for free!  THANK YOU.

 Topics included are:

- general advice for keeping a travel sketchbook

- what supplies to take when you travel

- how to pick a sketchbook

- what to draw on your trip

And lots more!  All drawn and hand lettered  (like a little comic or zine).

To add this book to your pledge, just upgrade to the reward that includes it OR use the “build your own” level and add everything you want (prints, more books, etc).

Again, thank you so much for backing my project!

New rewards! Almost there!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 01, 2018 at 01:09:40 PM

Hey folks!

I just wanted to say thanks so much to those folks that have already pledged to buy this book of my travel sketches and comics!  The book is ALMOST funded, and we still have a few weeks to go!  Keep in mind, the more books we sell, the more we can do with the book (printing, extras) so be sure to tell your friends about the project!

a few things:

1.  BIG NEWS.  Slightly Jet Lagged has been selected by Kickstarter as one of their "Projects we love".

2. REWARDS. I've had a few requests for other cities as limited-edition prints! I'm considering adding New York as a print! Message me if that's something you'd be interested in. Also, is there a reward I forgot to add? Maybe you wanted FIVE books or whatever. Let me know!

3.  I just got back from New York, and while I can't say I'm exactly JET LAGGED, I'm definitely a little sleep deprived (the fire alarm went off at 1 in the hotel and my alarm to catch the plane went off at 4:30).

where I had a chance to take a tour of the Kickstarter offices!  They even caught me drawing on video for the "always drawing" series on instagram.

Look how natural and not awkward I look!

If you missed it on Instagram, I also made this little video about the flight there:

4.  Lastly, we've got another BIG incentive about to drop!  Keep your eyes peeled and your bananas...umm...also peeled.

Thank you thank you!
